25% of us buy Valentine gifts online, with the average adult in 2016 spending £42.02 on their loved ones. 2017’s spend is set to be just as high with over £1 billion to be spent. We carried out a survey on the big day to find out exactly what people thoughts are on the day of love. So based on our romantic survey – Valentines Day has come out at 32% at being the time to propose, would you agree? This was a surprise to me, the majority of those that we asked both men and women ranging from 18 to 52, actually do not ask someone to be their Valentine. I don’t know about you but as much as flowers and chocolates are lovely, doesn’t a relaxing Massage or Facial or even having a gift card towards your next hair appointment sound more tempting? Gone are the days of chocolates and flowers, now are expectations appear to be set a little higher, with a holiday as the perfect Valentine’s gift coming out at 32%.
Are the perfect present when giving someone a set amount or when wanting to purchase a particular treatment like a Facial or Cut and Finish.
Many suppliers often support businesses by offering a gift with purchase around holiday dates like Valentine’s day. Gift with purchase can be combined when buying a certain treatment or when your client buys a set number of full-size products. Contact your supplier and find out what they can do to help you.
In your salon instead of giving discounts add value to the services you offer. Time and time again we think the only way to entice clients to book is to offer a huge discount, this really isn’t the case anymore. GREAT hairdressing ran a Valentine’s promotion last year combining the hair and beauty services they offer. They offered every 1 hour ESPA facial booked had a complimentary blow-dry added on straight after the appointment. This saw 9 bookings in the space of 75 minutes of the SMS blast going out via Salon iQ.
